Job Overview
The Safety and Security Specialist is tasked with ensuring a secure environment for patients, visitors, staff, and volunteers. This role encompasses the enforcement of policies, provision of assistance and guidance, emergency response, and safeguarding of personnel and property.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts regular inspections of both the interior and exterior premises, including parking facilities.
- Familiarizes with and upholds Intermountain Healthcare Policies and Procedures along with safety protocols.
- Responds efficiently to dispatch requests, performs assessments at incidents, gathers pertinent information, resolves disputes, and completes necessary documentation.
- Offers guidance and information to patients, visitors, staff, and volunteers throughout the facility and during rounds.
- May execute environmental assessments, lighting evaluations, alarm tests, and fire drills.
- May undertake specialized tasks such as assisting with patient transport via helicopter and ground, managing psychiatric patient needs, handling valuable items, key management, vehicle support, lockout assistance, and emergency code responses.

Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Minimum age of 21 years
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospital security is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
- Continuous need to see and read information, labels, and monitors, and to assess customer needs.
- Frequent interaction with customers necessitates effective communication and understanding of spoken information, alarms, and issues promptly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity is required to operate complex and delicate equipment with precision.
- Expected to lift and utilize a full range of motion to transport, pull, and push equipment, including heavy items.
- For roles involving driving: Must be able to operate a vehicle, which requires sitting, seeing, and reading signs and signals.
