STARPLUS ENERGY LLC is in search of a skilled, proactive, and detail-oriented Sustainability Compliance Officer to join our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Team.
In this essential role within our EHS team, you will be instrumental in supporting the permitting processes, ensuring environmental compliance, and driving initiatives for environmental impact reduction.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong audit capabilities, excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to advancing sustainable business practices.
This position reports to the Environmental Manager.Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Lead, implement, and enhance environmental management systems (standards, procedures, processes) in the designated area.
2. Collaborate with facilities to integrate site/corporate sustainability initiatives and objectives into facility programs and processes, including proposed project modifications and compliance requirements.
3. Partner with project teams to incorporate elements of sustainability, climate change considerations, environmental justice, and circular economy principles.
4. Oversee permit and regulatory compliance, including providing data and information for permit applications related to new and modified equipment.
5. Develop and deliver environmental training programs, including ongoing coaching for staff.
6. Assist facility personnel in preparing periodic compliance reports such as Title V, emissions/waste reports, and facility plans.
7. Provide necessary data for regulatory agency requirements and respond to inquiries regarding the development of environmental permits and agency investigations.
8. Collaborate with environmental experts to assess the potential impact of proposed regulations and provide constructive feedback to agencies for environmentally protective flexibility.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic:
1. Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Environmental Specialist in a manufacturing environment.
2. A bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline.
3. A combination of education and industry experience will be considered if no degree is held.
4. Must be eligible to work in the United States.
5. While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate should be able to travel with reasonable prior notice as needed (domestic and/or international).
6. Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required.
Preferred:
1. Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
2. Professional certification as a CHMM or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
1. Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods.
2. Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to dust and chemicals.
3. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for job functions.
4. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
