Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our team in providing technical maintenance services for laboratory instrumentation. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing complex laboratory equipment.

About the Role

This role is part of our Critical and Technical Services job function, which involves providing technical maintenance services in critical client environments. The successful candidate will have experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments, as well as excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take apart, examine, clean, fix, calibrate, check, and take care of special equipment, systems, and controls, with special emphasis on Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS)
  • Operate test equipment, including multimeters, frequency generators, and counters, galvanometers, digital logic probes, and oscilloscopes
  • Coordinate the removal of equipment requiring extensive repairs during scheduled maintenance periods
  • Troubleshoot, service or resolve problems while performing unscheduled work
  • Record and report abnormal functions or out-of-tolerance conditions of equipment. If needed, start corrective action and documentation
Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 2-3 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
