Position Overview
OBJECTIVE
Deliver comprehensive educational instruction to students in the field of nail care, encompassing manicuring, nail enhancement, and pedicure techniques. Equip students with the necessary skills to successfully undertake the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination.
SUPERVISION
Operates under the general oversight of the Coordinator, Workforce Development Training.
Key Responsibilities
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct classroom and practical sessions for students
- Design lesson plans and organize classroom activities
- Create supplementary materials to enhance core curriculum
- Develop assessments to measure student understanding; maintain records of individual performance
- Demonstrate the use of various tools and equipment; create practical assignments for hands-on learning
- Keep accurate and timely records of student performance
- Submit all required documentation promptly and accurately, including attendance and grading records
- Ensure adherence to policies and procedures relevant to the teaching area in alignment with institutional guidelines
- Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional materials and suggest improvements
- Participate in field studies and assist students during practical assignments
- Fulfill other duties as assigned
- Stay informed about updates regarding the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examinations
- Perform related tasks as required
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge:
- Effective instructional techniques and methodologies
- Academic principles and instructional strategies
- Current trends and developments in the nail care industry
- Assessment design and administration techniques
- Foster cooperative working relationships with colleagues and students
- Communicate effectively and respectfully, both verbally and in writing
- Interpret and implement institutional goals and policies
- Maintain the physical and mental capacity necessary for job performance, including:
- Extended periods of standing or sitting
- Operating equipment
- Managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Physical activities such as bending, lifting, or climbing
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current and valid Cosmetology Teacher's License or Nail Technician Teacher's License
Minimum Experience:
At least two years of professional experience as a nail technician.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree is preferred.
