Summary:
As a Biomedical Equipment Specialist, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical systems and devices. This role emphasizes the management of deployable medical apparatus, including laboratory, clinical, dental, therapeutic, pneumatic, hydraulic, general, surgical, diagnostic, and treatment equipment at both the module and circuit board levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, align, and calibrate medical devices.
- Work with steam and water systems, including soldering, plumbing, and welding.
- Interpret circuit diagrams and wiring schematics; possess a working knowledge of electrical systems.
- Oversee and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Manage repair parts, maintain inventories, and order replacement components.
- Provide technical advice and assistance as necessary.
- Deliver product and technical support to customers and end users.
- Conduct mechanical troubleshooting of equipment.
- Document work performed, including logging times and materials used for services.
- Assist in the development and testing of machinery and equipment under the guidance of the service department manager.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with technical experts, healthcare professionals, and OEM representatives.
- Willingness to travel for on-site repairs, with occasional overnight or multi-day trips.
- Self-directed with strong judgment and problem-solving skills, requiring minimal oversight.
- Promptly respond to customer inquiries and needs, both in-person and remotely.
- Educate customers on the proper use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of their products and devices.
- Maintain and process necessary paperwork and records accurately.
- Document procedures and repair plans effectively.
Education and Experience:
Completion of certificate programs from trade or technical schools in fields such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or biomedical is preferred. Experience in biomedical, clinical, or dental technical fields is advantageous. Relevant certifications such as BMET, CBET, BIET, CETa/CET, and/or biomedical device OEM repair and service certifications are preferred.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The role may require lifting and/or moving up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required include color vision. Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, employees may be exposed to moving parts, varying temperatures, and electrical hazards. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. Necessary safety equipment will be provided.
