Job Summary: Talis Group, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant Bookkeeper to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will provide critical support to our Controller and other teams, ensuring the smooth operation of our daily accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Controller with bookkeeping and general accounting for properties in multiple states.
  • Perform general ledger entries and bank account reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with banks, lenders, and vendors regarding documents and processes.
  • Manage commercial property, umbrella, and general liability insurance payments.
  • Assist with electronic filing, document maintenance, and updates.
  • Process loan payments and auto-drafts.
  • Ensure timely payment of property taxes within the discount period.
  • Assist with filing sales tax, business licenses, and regulatory reporting.
  • Perform reconciliations for bank, general ledger, and payroll processing.
  • Support the creation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.
  • Contribute to year-end activities, including balance sheet account reconciliations and income statement accuracy.
  • Provide general tax assistance to our CPA firm.
  • Collaborate with company teams and external partners on special projects and research initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • At least 5 years of daily accounting/bookkeeping experience at a mid-sized company.
  • General accounting experience in property management or commercial real estate is a plus.
  • Excellent Excel and QuickBooks skills.
  • Exceptional time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
