Position Overview
The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities is in search of a Supervisor to oversee the planning, monitoring, and coordination of specialized instructional and technical support services for school-aged children. This role includes the management of Behavior and Curriculum Intervention Staff (BCIS).

Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Providing leadership, performance assessments, and constructive feedback to all BCIS personnel. Prioritizing and assigning caseloads according to operational requirements. Organizing and leading departmental meetings for BCIS, including agenda creation and professional development opportunities as needed. Offering oversight and direction regarding behavioral interventions executed by BCIS for individuals on their caseloads. Monitoring the implementation of school-aged support services provided by BCIS staff, which includes maintaining relationships with educational institutions, assigning referrals, and assessing productivity. Keeping track of timekeeping data for BCIS staff, including requests for professional leave, absences, and timecards. Reviewing and approving mileage and scheduling coverage. Making recommendations for professional and technical equipment for school-aged services. Managing the lending of equipment for BCIS staff. Overseeing the use of virtual reality tools and maintaining vendor relationships as necessary. Assisting with the departmental budget related to BCIS. Coordinating communication with other public systems as required. Participating in meetings with external agencies to ensure effective communication and programming. Reviewing IEP and ISP outcomes and electronic documentation. Developing and/or facilitating in-service training sessions focused on best practices and efficiency in behavioral support and intervention strategies. Representing the Cuyahoga County Board of DD in interactions with various State, regional, and local agencies and organizations as needed. Attending and contributing to meetings, committees, and conferences, and delivering presentations on relevant topics. Aiding in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes for BCIS candidates.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversee and evaluate all Behavior and Curriculum Intervention Specialists.

Salary Information:

The salary range indicated is applicable to all employees within Pay Schedule D.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in special education or a related field is required.
  • Ohio Department of Education K-12 Intervention Specialist license is required.
  • DODD Service and Support Administrator Supervisor Certificate is required but can be obtained upon hire.
  • One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is required.

Thorough knowledge in the fields of:

  • Speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, counseling, psychology, special education.

Experience in implementing various behavioral strategies for individuals with developmental disabilities is essential. Practical experience and training in family coaching in home-based settings as a learning strategy is highly desirable. A valid Ohio driver’s license and a clean driving record are necessary.
