Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree with HT(ASCP) certification or equivalent education
- Preferred two years of relevant experience
- Experience in Mohs histology is a plus
- BLS certification required
Core Competencies:
- Proficient in general histology practices
- Strong critical-thinking skills for clinical decision-making
- Knowledge of quality assurance and performance improvement in laboratory settings
- Understanding of safety regulations and standards
- Commitment to ethical practices in the profession
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit proficiency in histology tasks including specimen grossing, slide preparation, embedding, cutting, and staining as per pathologist instructions.
- Maintain knowledge of laboratory accreditation standards and actively engage in the accreditation process.
- Conduct quality control measures, assess data, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Contribute to the evaluation and enhancement of testing systems as assigned.
- Manage inventory of laboratory materials with proper documentation.
- Utilize Laboratory Information Systems efficiently.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for clinicians regarding specimen handling and consultation.
- Adhere to organizational policies and participate in mandatory educational programs.
- Assist in the orientation and competency assessment of new employees.
- Fulfill additional duties as required.
