Position Overview:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree with HT(ASCP) certification or equivalent education
  • Preferred two years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Mohs histology is a plus
  • BLS certification required

Core Competencies:
  • Proficient in general histology practices
  • Strong critical-thinking skills for clinical decision-making
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and performance improvement in laboratory settings
  • Understanding of safety regulations and standards
  • Commitment to ethical practices in the profession

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit proficiency in histology tasks including specimen grossing, slide preparation, embedding, cutting, and staining as per pathologist instructions.
  • Maintain knowledge of laboratory accreditation standards and actively engage in the accreditation process.
  • Conduct quality control measures, assess data, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and enhancement of testing systems as assigned.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory materials with proper documentation.
  • Utilize Laboratory Information Systems efficiently.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for clinicians regarding specimen handling and consultation.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and participate in mandatory educational programs.
  • Assist in the orientation and competency assessment of new employees.
  • Fulfill additional duties as required.
