About the Role

The Multicraft Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting systems and performing preventive and predictive maintenance on various equipment, prioritizing safety above all else. This role will also provide support for production and carry out assignments and responsibilities given by the assembly department maintenance supervisors and team leaders. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting safety, quality, and productivity while adhering to Magna's plant standards and upholding the company's employee charter.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure Plant Safety: Follow and comply with all plant safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  2. Troubleshoot and Repair Equipment: Diagnose and repair various manufacturing equipment, including robots, PLCs, controls, electrical systems, and more.
  3. Support Continuous Improvement: Contribute to lean manufacturing processes and suggest improvements to minimize downtime and optimize production.
  4. Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure seamless collaboration and problem-solving.
  5. Maintain Safety Devices: Ensure the integrity of safety devices, including light curtains, safety gates, and barriers.
  6. Design and Installation: Assist in designing and installing new or improved manufacturing equipment, components, and processes.
  7. Equipment Modifications: Make modifications to existing equipment as required to ensure optimal performance.
  8. Spare Parts Management: Assist in determining spare parts requirements to minimize downtime.
  9. Documentation and Training: Maintain accurate documentation and train operators and new team members on fixtures, control panels, and other equipment.
  10. Support Team Members: Assist team members with running lines and presses as needed.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong Mathematical and Communication Skills
  • Ability to Read and Understand Schematics
  • Proficiency in Using Testing and Troubleshooting Equipment
  • Good Understanding of Rigging, Cranes, and Hydraulics/Pneumatics
  • Attention to Detail
  • Basic Knowledge of Drafting (Blueprint Reading, Dimension Drawings, etc.)
  • Basic Knowledge of AUTOCAD
  • Ability to Work Extended Hours as Needed
  • Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-Year Degree from a Technical College or Minimum of Three Years On-the-Job Training with Heavy Industrial Manufacturing Facility in Skilled Trade Capacity
  • Journeyman Certification
  • General Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance with an Emphasis on Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, or Controls Application
  • Maintenance Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
