Job Title: 1st Shift Direct Care Worker

At Mental Health Association - Western MA, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Care Worker to join our team. As a Direct Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing supportive and safe environments for individuals with brain injuries, promoting growth, independence, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support and advocacy to participants, promoting self-esteem and empowerment.
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and cleaning, while encouraging participant involvement.
  • Adjust support levels to meet the varying needs of participants, performing tasks such as lifting, transfers, and personal care as needed.
  • Facilitate community integration by assisting participants in accessing resources, such as substance abuse groups, counseling, and educational institutions.
  • Empower participants by teaching self-advocacy skills and acting as a liaison with hospitals, clinics, and other providers.
  • Assist with money management, budgeting, and financial matters, tracking and documenting participant funds and expenditures.
  • Provide transportation to participants for medical appointments, social engagements, and vocational opportunities.
  • Respond to emergency situations, following MHA, MRC, and DDS policies and protocols.
  • Document all incidents, issues, and concerns in a timely manner, completing necessary written documentation.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to varying participant needs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
