Job Description

Momentum is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional I to provide support to adults with disabilities. As a Direct Support Professional I, you will be responsible for implementing Individual Service Plans (ISPs) that promote independence and personal skills, while ensuring a safe and secure home environment for individuals in Momentum's Independent and Community Living Services program.

DSP I Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily living skills in accordance with the individual's schedule and ISP
  • Support daily needs and tasks within the individual's home
  • Prompt and assist with medication management, as needed
  • Assist individuals with personal care, including hygiene
  • Assist with weight-bearing and non-weight-bearing transfers, as needed
  • Comply with all Momentum policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental and business needs

DSP I Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid and current proof of legal right to drive in California; required
  • High school diploma or equivalent; required
  • Must have reliable phone access
  • Minimum of one year experience working with people with developmental and/or other disabilities; preferred
  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English
  • Successfully pass all post-offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs., and transfer individuals
  • Use of personal vehicle for assignments throughout service areas; highly preferred
  • Must be available to travel throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties, as needed (mileage reimbursed)
