Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all ingredients and final dishes are of the highest quality and freshness.
- Accurately follow recipes, including precise measuring, weighing, and mixing of ingredients.
- Utilize various cooking methods such as baking, grilling, steaming, and boiling for meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other food items.
- Skillfully present, garnish, and arrange final dishes for optimal visual appeal.
- Occasionally assist in serving food to guests.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring proper handling of utensils, equipment, and dishes.
- Safely handle and store ingredients and food products.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
Work Schedule
Full-time culinary specialists typically work four ten-hour shifts with at least two consecutive days off. We strive to promote a healthy work-life balance in a fast-paced and often high-pressure industry. Our menus are regularly updated, providing culinary specialists with opportunities to learn new methods of preparation and develop innovative dish concepts. We also offer assistance with medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with accident and life insurance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Understanding of safety protocols, including safe temperature ranges for ingredient storage and food preparation to prevent foodborne illnesses.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team, particularly on complex dishes.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage with various personnel, including waitstaff, dishwashers, management, and occasionally customers.
- Ability to maintain composure in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Accountability for the quality of dishes prepared, meeting the expectations of both management and patrons.
- Organizational skills to follow instructions and recipes accurately, ensuring dishes meet the restaurant's standards.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for effective use of kitchen tools, including knife skills for chopping, slicing, and dicing.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods, endure high temperatures, and manage shift work.
Education & Experience
- A minimum of one to two years of experience in roles such as line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook.
