Job Description

Job Title: Optometrist
Location: Muskegon, MI

Job Summary:

  1. Provide evidence-based vision care to ensure patients' health and well-being by recommending and prescribing medications and other treatment options.
  2. Deliver routine vision care, educate patients and store associates on eye health, and recommend patient follow-up as needed.
  3. Consult with other health professionals to prepare and coordinate patient care plans in accordance with optometry scope of practice per state board.
  4. Provide patients with referrals to ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals as needed.
  5. Evaluate patients' health condition to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment by reviewing patient medical history information and performing comprehensive eye examinations.
  6. Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids as necessary.

Responsibilities:

  1. Represent the company in vision care and patient engagement by delivering exceptional customer service through all patient interactions.
  2. Maintain and update patient information in vision center systems in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner.
  3. Ensure adherence to state, local, and federal healthcare regulations and Walmart vision center guidelines.
  4. Perform administrative and retail tasks for the vision center as necessary.

Requirements:

  1. Doctoral degree in Optometry (OD) from an accredited optometry school.
  2. Licensed optometrist in good standing in the state of practice.
