Role Overview:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Auxiliary Services, the Director of the College Store will play a pivotal role in enhancing the customer experience while managing store operations. This position entails overseeing staff, curating product offerings that reflect the college's identity, and ensuring financial accountability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct the strategic selection, procurement, and promotion of merchandise while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures, staff schedules, and programs that align with the college's mission and enhance customer service.
  • Oversee financial management of the store, including regular analysis of sales and expenses to evaluate inventory effectiveness.
  • Manage the transition of course materials in response to market trends, including rental options and digital formats.
  • Lead and mentor bookstore staff by creating staffing plans, establishing operational guidelines, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support events and engage with the college community.
  • Ensure a welcoming and visually appealing environment for students, faculty, and visitors through effective store layout and organization.


Qualifications:
Required:
  • A minimum of five years of experience in retail management.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and financial reporting systems.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet operational needs.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in a college store environment.
  • Familiarity with brand management principles.
