Job Summary

Vicor Corp. is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our surface mount technology team, you will be responsible for evaluating and developing processes that meet product performance, high volume surface mount manufacturing, and high reliability requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and develop processes to meet product performance, high volume surface mount manufacturing, and high reliability requirements.
  • Improve the Cpk of surface mount processes by actively using SPC and problem-solving methodology.
  • Determine failure mechanisms related to materials and processes for surface mount assembly and related processes.
  • Formulate and execute yield, reliability, and manufacturability improvements under tight time constraints in a team environment.
  • Work with design, quality, operations, and manufacturing groups to ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements are met.
  • Create paste and flux printing programs, AOI inspection programs, solder paste inspection programs, and reflow profiles.
  • Assist and participate in printed circuit board reviews with an emphasis on design for manufacturability.
Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum three years' experience in surface mount technology.
  • Solid understanding of high volume equipment, materials, and processes for a world-class surface mount assembly line.
  • Proficient in Minitab or other statistical analysis software and in Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience in improving yields, throughput, and Cpk in a high-volume surface mount production line.
  • Hands-on experience in creating solder paste and flux printing programs, as well as SPI and AOI inspection programs.
  • Competent in creating reflow profiles.
  • Knowledge of SPC, design of experiments, and statistical analyses and has applied this knowledge to making measurable improvements.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma tools such as failure modes and effects analyses and control plans to identify and prevent problems.
  • Ability to be an independent, creative thinker to solve cutting-edge technical challenges.
  • Welcomes a fast-paced work environment.
  • ASM Siplace Pick and Place experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
