Position Summary: Off shift weekend/holiday supervisors assume shift responsibility for the overall assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care on the unit. They carry hospital and nursing service mission, vision, values, and the overall strategic planning, clinical management, patient care, budgeting, financial management, and quality management on the unit. They promote the health system service standards and create a patient-focused caring environment while addressing and meeting the individual needs of the patient.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Standard Compliance: Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care, including CMS, IHI, CAP, etc.
  • Operational Performance: Develops, prepares, and monitors the personnel, supply, and equipment budgets in collaboration with the staff and support department directors.
  • Clinical Practice/Patient Care: Collaborates with the CNO to establish nursing care standards and evaluates staff compliance.
  • Management: Participates in the overall planning process for the service and is responsible for the overall planning process for the unit.

Language Skills: Ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.

Skills: Excellent creative skills, ideas to improve existing programs, and services, processes, ideas that have an impact on this job and the department.

Physical Demands: Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and bending. May include some repetitive motions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising patient care.

Qualifications: Master's Degree in Nursing is required, current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, minimum of three (3) years nursing experience, including previous supervisory experience, and demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
