Job Summary

Nuvance Health is seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our team at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images of patients using computed tomography (CT) scanners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate timely throughput for CT patients, prioritizing exams based on priority level and escalating hurdles to timely completion to Lead CT Technologist or Manager.
  • Properly identify patients using two patient identifiers, check the imaging order for complete information, and assess risk of pregnancy prior to commencing with exam or procedure.
  • Explain procedures to patients with professionalism and compassion, and perform IV cannulation and iStat testing as prescribed by Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP).
  • Position patients ensuring comfort and modesty, select proper imaging protocol, and maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and adjusting exposure techniques to obtain optimal CT images.
  • Operate power injectors in preparation for and administration of contrast media under the direct supervision of the supervising physician, and demonstrate knowledge of and practices radiation safety.
  • Perform critique of exam for completeness and correct labeling, and be responsible for accurate and timely exam verification within the hospital's RIS system and archival of completed studies to the PACS system.
  • Follow infection control and safety guidelines, clean and disinfect scanners and exam rooms, and properly stock assigned rooms prior to the start and end of shift.
  • Protocol exams for the next day to ensure that the examinations were scheduled properly, flag any contraindications, and request revised orders as necessary.
  • Coordinate all aspects of care for the CT patient, including coordination and participation as necessary of patient transportation to the appropriate areas, and communicate pertinent patient information with nursing units.
  • Notify Lead CT Technologist or Manager when equipment malfunctions and place appropriate BioMed ticket, and maintain and model Nuvance Health values.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • American College of Radiology (ARRT) CT Certification
  • Valid New York State (NYS) Radiological License with Injection
  • Basic Life support (BLS) Certification
