Facility Maintenance Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
This role involves performing essential cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the hygiene, safety, and overall cleanliness of the designated educational facility. The position is accountable to the school principal or designated representative.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for cleaning classrooms, restrooms, administrative offices, dining areas, and other spaces. Duties include mopping floors, vacuuming, stripping, buffing, and waxing floors, emptying waste receptacles, cleaning windows, and maintaining the exterior grounds as needed. Additional tasks include changing light bulbs and replacing ceiling tiles.
Utilizes various commercial cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, commercial vacuums, ladders, wet vacs, and shampoo machines. Conducts inventory counts of custodial supplies and places orders as necessary. Performs any other duties as assigned or required.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED is required; proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is essential. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in commercial cleaning is preferred. This position requires making decisions that affect all staff and students within the assigned facility, often under the guidance of the school principal or their designee. Regular interaction with internal and external personnel is necessary to address important issues. Familiarity with computer applications such as Word and Google email is preferred.
The work environment is variable, encompassing school grounds and all buildings, and may involve exposure to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures. The ability to frequently lift up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally lift up to one hundred (100) pounds is required. The role involves walking, standing, kneeling, and bending for eight (8) hours per day, as well as climbing a thirty (30) foot ladder and navigating stairs. This position is classified as grade 13, consisting of 225 working days, with compensation based on minimum annual salary with credit for relevant experience.
