The Senior Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a key member of the nursing team, providing expert-level care to residents in a long-term care setting. This role requires a high level of experience and expertise as a certified nursing assistant, with a strong focus on resident-centered care and daily living assistance.
Key Responsibilities- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN)
- Assist residents with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and providing psychosocial support
- Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment
- Provide range of motion and passive exercises to residents
- Assist with food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience for residents
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary
- Communicate resident's changing condition and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational
- Participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required
- Minimum age of 16
- Two years' clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
- Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing
- Satisfactorily completes yearly department-specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year
- A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually
- Maintains all department-specific required certifications
