About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Mapping Specialist to join our team at Atmos Energy Corporation. As a key member of our Technical Services group, you will play a critical role in maintaining and updating our system facility records, maps, and databases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Map Maintenance and Updates: Utilize GIS and/or Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to maintain and update system facility records, maps, sketches, and working designs.
  • Database Management: Update existing maps and computerized drawings and databases to reflect additions, removals, and other changes to land bases and company-owned pipeline facilities.
  • Visual Aids and Communications: Prepare maps, graphics, charts, and other visual aids used to facilitate communications and support business decisions.
  • Library Management: Maintain a library of maps and related databases, including computerized maps obtained from various sources.
  • Record Keeping and Organization: Establish, organize, and maintain detailed records and files using various computer programs.
  • Training and Quality Control: Assist with training, direction, and quality control of others engaged in similar activities, and may oversee project activities.
  • GIS Application Development: Assist with the development of GIS applications, processes, and procedures.
  • Project Support: Assist Technical Services and Operations in various projects as required.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Associates degree in GIS, Computer Drafting, or related field, and two years of related experience, or equivalent.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information on technical or other complex concepts.
  • Numeric Skills: Ability to perform algebraic, trigonometric, and geometric operations, and/or moderately complex statistical and/or accounting methods.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of various software applications, including computer drafting, to utilize advanced operations to create complex documents, reports, graphics, daily updates, and maintenance of system facility maps and special mapping projects.
  • Work Environment: Works in an indoor environment, with occasional outdoor work for field site visits, requiring frequent sitting, repetitive wrist movement, and/or shifting gaze from data to PC screen, and occasional bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning, and/or lifting.
