Experience

Three to five years of experience in hospital medicine is preferred.

Physical Demands

The normal hospital environment exposes you to biological hazards. You will frequently be exposed to unpleasant odors. Close eye work is required, as well as the ability to hear normal and soft tones. You must be able to distinguish smells and temperatures by touch and proximity. You may be exposed to airborne and infectious materials. You are required to stand, walk, sit, push, and pull, use your fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with your hands and arms, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Job Summary


The hospitalist advanced practice nurse or clinical nurse specialist must possess knowledge of professional medical practice and care to administer and evaluate patient care; knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer care; knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care; knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment; skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of medicine to provide ongoing patient care; skill in maintaining medical records; skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, families, patient care staff, supervising physicians, the medical community, and referring providers.

This position requires the use of independent judgment.
