Job Requirements

Education
A Master's degree in nursing is required. Licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Clinical Nurse Specialist. Certification by a national certifying body with prescriptive privileges. ACLS certification is required.

Experience
Three to five years of experience in hospital medicine is preferred.

The normal hospital environment exposes you to biological hazards. You will frequently be exposed to unpleasant odors. Close eye work is required. You must be able to hear normal and soft tones. You must be able to distinguish smells. You must be able to distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. You may be exposed to airborne and infectious materials. You are required to stand, walk, sit, push, and pull. You must use your fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. You must reach with your hands and arms. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds is required.

Job Summary
The hospitalist advanced practice nurse or clinical nurse specialist must possess knowledge of professional medical practice and care to administer and evaluate patient care. They must have knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer care. They must have knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. They must have knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. They must have skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of medicine to provide ongoing patient care. They must have skill in maintaining medical records. They must have skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, families, patient care staff, supervising physicians, the medical community, and referring providers. This position requires the use of independent judgment.
