Job Title: Program Research Specialist III

Health Research, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Program Research Specialist III to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our team to coordinate, lead, and participate in efforts to implement automated extraction and reporting of select variables from New York's health information exchange data.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with partners within the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) and Office of Quality and Patient Safety (OQPS) to implement automated extraction and reporting of select variables from New York's health information exchange data.
  • Contribute to the development and testing of business rules to extract health information data, including lab testing data, vaccination data, clinical and medical history data, and outcome data.
  • Validate the output files to ensure data specifications are met and comparable to legacy data.
  • Coordinate with other government agencies as needed to support data collection, integration, standardization, and analysis efforts.
  • Supervise staff and monitor the preparation of reports, preparing reports for evaluation of the data modernization activities and leading the preparation of data summary reports, technical guidance, publications, and abstracts for presentations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Biostatistics, or a related field and three years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data.
  • OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience.
  • OR seven years of such experience.
  • A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in public health or related field and at least three years of experience in communicable disease surveillance or evaluation activities.
  • Working knowledge of public health surveillance systems and electronic laboratory reporting systems.
  • Experience with IT systems and/or large, population-based or other health-related data sets.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming tools such as SAS, R, and/or SQL.
