This role is essential in ensuring high-quality patient support and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the scope of practice, serving as a Hand Hygiene Validator and EMR super-user.
  • Assist in patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic assessments, and treatment processes.
  • Perform general administrative duties adhering to CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA, and governmental regulations, alongside company policies.
  • Engage in patient care under the guidance of a physician, ensuring compliance with medical assistant protocols.
  • Schedule patient appointments, verify eligibility for care, and ensure medical necessity compliance.
  • Act as a preceptor and clinical resource for fellow Medical Assistants, providing training and orientation as needed.

People-Centric Functions
The LMA is a role model, fostering a positive work atmosphere that encourages collaboration among the interprofessional care team to achieve optimal departmental outcomes. Responsibilities include:

The LMA provides patient care in a clinic setting under the supervision of a Physician or Registered Nurse, focusing on:

  • Documenting vital signs, chief complaints, and medical histories in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Following up with patients to ensure adherence to treatment recommendations and appointments.
  • Coordinating care with hospitals, emergency departments, and community resources as needed.

Quality and Safety Functions
The LMA is responsible for:
  • Reporting patient observations and conditions to the supervising physician or nurse.
  • Recognizing and appropriately reporting abnormal clinical findings.
  • Maintaining patient privacy and safety throughout care delivery.
  • Performing routine tests and sterilizing instruments and equipment.

Financial Responsibilities
The LMA efficiently utilizes resources, ensuring:
  • Proper stocking of exam rooms and inventory management.
  • Effective time management to minimize overtime while meeting departmental demands.

The LMA actively participates in:

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience as a medical assistant, particularly in complex disease management.

  • BLS certification is mandatory.
