Job Description and Duties

This position is located in the Food Service department at the Veterans Home of California-Redding.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving meals to residents, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.

Additionally, the Cook Specialist I will assist with menu planning, inventory management, and ordering supplies.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

Working overtime may be a requirement of this position.

The successful candidate will be required to work in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, and physical demands.

Additionally, the Cook Specialist I will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols.

Special Requirements

Successful completion of a live scan and a pre-employment physical (including drug testing for certain civil service classifications) will be required.

The successful candidate will also be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or submit a declination form.

Furthermore, the Cook Specialist I will be required to follow all CalVet facility policies and procedures.
