Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Crop Scout Student Intern to join our team at Prairieland FS, Inc. As a Crop Scout Student Intern, you will play a critical role in monitoring crop health and conditions, providing valuable insights to our agronomy specialists and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of customer crop fields to monitor crop health and conditions, using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques and GPS technology.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Document and photograph all findings, complete inspection reports, and provide reports to agronomy specialists and customers in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Customer Service: Discuss results with agronomy specialists and customers to answer additional questions and add value to the service.
  • Training and Development: Attend scheduled technical training sessions and meetings to enhance your knowledge and skills.
  • Additional Duties: Assist with additional agricultural retail operational duties as time allows.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Normally requires a high school diploma or the equivalent thereof and possesses a basic understanding of production agriculture.
  • Functional Competencies: Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and the ability to travel independently as needed.
  • Core Competencies: Demonstrates essential abilities, including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision-making, and skill development.
Working Conditions

Occasionally exposed or required to work in extreme weather conditions. (hot, cold, wet, etc.)

Physical Demands

Frequently required to walk crop fields and conduct visual inspections of crops. May be required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
