Position Overview

The Healthcare Patient Services Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of patient interactions within the healthcare setting. Reporting to the Practice Manager, this individual is responsible for a range of administrative tasks that facilitate patient registration, team collaboration, and effective communication management.

This role emphasizes the importance of patient rights, where the coordinator will educate patients, address concerns from patients and their families, and work towards resolving any issues while documenting unresolved matters appropriately.

Building a foundation of trust and respect with patients is essential. The Healthcare Patient Services Coordinator will also assist in the onboarding process for new employees by completing necessary checklists and creating tailored orientation schedules that align with specific job responsibilities.

Essential Qualifications

Education:
A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
Not applicable.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years in an outpatient healthcare environment is required. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for effective communication and maintaining professional relationships with patients, families, visitors, and staff members.

Familiarity with the operational standards, policies, and procedures of the healthcare practice is essential. Continuous education relevant to the role is encouraged.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to thrive in a collaborative care environment, uphold professionalism, and maintain confidentiality at all times. Proficiency in computer systems and electronic medical records is expected, along with a solid understanding of medical terminology and office procedures.

Additional skills include:

  • Experience with multi-line phone systems and electronic documentation software.
  • Knowledge of ICD10 and CPT coding.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Understanding of medical office operations, including scheduling, registration, patient flow, billing, coding, referrals, and compliance.
