Compensation & Benefits:

Your Role in the Team:
As an apprentice, you will enroll in Howe's state-registered apprenticeship program, T.E.K. (Technology, Experience, and Knowledge). Under the guidance of the Foreman, you will assist in the installation and fabrication of sheet metal ducts, spiral ducts, rooftop units, and various commercial HVAC equipment and projects according to specifications. Each day will present new challenges as you install auxiliary components for heating and cooling systems, including registers, air ducts, blowers, dampers, and flues. You will also participate in monthly classroom training facilitated by Howe, where you will learn to read blueprints, troubleshoot issues, and complete additional assignments as needed. Apprentices will gain insights into tool maintenance, equipment repair, and the importance of keeping workspaces organized and free of debris.
What You Bring:
To thrive in Howe's T.E.K. apprenticeship, you should possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow instructions closely. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the capability to work independently while maintaining a professional appearance. Reliable transportation is necessary, as apprentices are expected to travel to various job sites.
Qualifications:
Howe's T.E.K. apprenticeship offers all the necessary on-the-job and classroom training to prepare you for a licensed Sheet Metal Journeyman role. While prior construction experience is not mandatory, it is advantageous. Apprentices must demonstrate basic skills and knowledge of the trade, as well as an understanding of materials and tools used in the industry. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Physical Expectations:
Working in the sheet metal HVAC sector can be physically demanding. As an apprentice, you should be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs. You will need the balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina to perform tasks in various environments. Apprentices must also be able to work at heights, on ladders or lifts, and endure different weather conditions for extended periods. If offered a position, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and background check.
