Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Student Employee to join our Campus Recreation team as an Operations Staff member. This is a summer position that will provide opportunities for growth and development in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patrons, ensuring a positive experience in our facilities.
  • Assist with facility operations, including equipment setup and teardown, cleaning, and hourly usage reports.
  • Serve as a campus resource, providing accurate and current information regarding recreation and university-related programs and facilities.
  • Report to authority figures, including lead staff, supervisors, managers, and professional staff.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned, which may include helping other departments within Campus Recreation.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours at Sam Houston State University.
  • Successfully pass the State of Texas criminal background check.
  • Must obtain a valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Completion of SHSU student employee compliance training and any additional trainings required by the department and university.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Able to work on weekends, early mornings, and late nights throughout the week.
  • Possess a passion for working with people and around fitness and wellness.
  • Be able to work in an active, crowded, and fast-paced environment.
  • Must have an increased focus on being punctual, reliable, and dependable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of personalities.
  • Open to constructive feedback while also keeping a positive and upbeat attitude.
  • Ability to handle conflict as well as confront patrons in a calm and professional manner.
Other Requirements
  • Must be able to work Summer 2024.
