Job Summary

As a key member of the Radiation Oncology Department, the Supervisor Clinical Radiation Therapist plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department, supervising clinical treatment and treatment planning, and collaborating with the Department Director to achieve strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and enforce policies, procedures, and standards to ensure quality patient care, monitoring compliance and utilizing department and organizational standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and implement department clinical standards, procedures, and policies to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a competent and motivated staff, ensuring compliance with department and employee relations policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels, advising personnel on operational, procedural, and organizational policy issues to ensure consistent service to patients and staff.
  • Identify and recommend structural, material, and human resource needs to ensure effective department operations within budgetary constraints.
  • Manage assigned financial and physical department resources in a cost-effective manner, aligning with organizational needs and operating requirements.
  • Monitor construction progress and associated purchasing activities for treatment and planning areas, ensuring compliance with national, state, and county regulations and standards.
  • Conduct ongoing and special radiation surveys to minimize unnecessary radiation exposure, adhering to national, state, and county regulations and standards.
  • Develop and analyze workload reports to identify opportunities for improving productivity and effectiveness of administrative and clinical processes, systems, and methods.
Requirements
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Physicist, Radiation Therapist, or Certified Medical Dosimetrist, completed within the last three (3) years.
  • Medical Physicist Candidate: Master's or PhD in Medical Physics. OR Radiation Therapist/Dosimetrist Candidate: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, radiation protection, radiation therapy equipment, accessories, and clinical applications, as well as technological advances in radiation such as dynamic wedge and multileaf collimation.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend/purchase equipment.
  • Knowledge of radiation therapy clinical functions and procedures/treatments.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with administrative staff, physicians, and department staff.
  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a supervisor in a Radiation Oncology Department.
  • Fluoroscopy License preferred.
