As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of essential functions within the accounting department. Your primary duties will include:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Calculate payroll in accordance with company policies and applicable union agreements.
2. Compile and prepare payroll-related data, including pension contributions, insurance premiums, and credit union payments.
3. Process payroll deductions accurately and efficiently.
4. Interpret and apply company policies, union contracts, and governmental regulations pertaining to payroll operations.
5. Prepare and submit required government reports.
6. Review payroll entries to ensure precision and compliance.
7. Establish work procedures, create work schedules, and streamline workflow.
8. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and daily cash balance analyses.
9. Provide backup support for accounts payable tasks.
10. Assist with depreciation, capital budgeting, and credit card reconciliations.
11. Undertake additional accounting responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution, or a combination of relevant experience and education totaling four or more years. Experience with UltiPro payroll systems is advantageous.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret procedural documents and write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
Competence in calculating figures and amounts, including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in database software and familiarity with UltiPro or similar payroll systems is essential.
Certifications:
Certification as a Payroll Professional is preferred.
Customer Service Orientation:
Demonstrate a commitment to creating a customer-centric culture by understanding client needs and prioritizing service quality and satisfaction.
