About the Role

The X-Ray Imaging Specialist will work as a member of the Great Lakes Medical Imaging team, reporting to the Mammography Manager. This role provides high-quality imaging services to patients and supports their experience throughout their time at GLMI.


Job Responsibilities
  • Operate mammography equipment to produce accurate images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under the direction of a Physician.
  • Pre-screen patients by taking vital signs and medical history.
  • Explain procedures clearly and thoroughly to patients, ensuring they understand what to expect.
  • Coordinate the acquisition of outside images and obtain reports from Radiologists.
  • Document patient information and forward it to the Radiologist for review.
  • Position patients correctly and immobilize areas of interest in the unit.
  • Monitor patients during exams to ensure safety and comfort.
  • Critique images before sending them to the Radiologist for further analysis.
  • Coordinate additional studies when necessary to obtain a complete exam.
  • Communicate results to patients via phone calls when required.
  • Collect samples for genetic testing and schedule office visits as needed.
  • Perform Stereotactic biopsies and assist with ultrasound-guided procedures.
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols to prevent overexposure of patients and personnel.
  • Respond to patient concerns professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace after each patient.
  • Restock medical supplies as needed and perform quality assurance checks according to FDA and MQSA guidelines.
  • Conduct Bone Density exams.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other designated events.

Necessary Skills:

  • Ability to perform duties accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in information systems and Google-based applications.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Experience in radiology or medical terminology is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or higher is preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Current ARRT and NYS licensing requirements, including continuing education credits.
  • CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of relevant patient positioning and techniques for modality.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients face-to-face or over the phone.
  • Must have mental and physical capabilities to perform all tasks listed above.

This role offers a competitive hourly rate of $30-$37, depending on experience.
