Position Overview

The Senior Automation Engineer will play a crucial role within our Manufacturing and Automation division. This position involves establishing automation specifications, creating technical documentation, and serving as the technical authority for various projects. The engineer will oversee small to medium-scale automation initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless transitions from clinical to commercial manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical subject matter expert and system administrator for assigned automation systems, including GMP SCADA and manufacturing control systems.
  • Develop and maintain essential documentation such as Functional Specifications, Design Specifications, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Manage Change Controls, Deviations, and Corrective Actions related to automation processes.
  • Provide automation expertise to troubleshoot and resolve real-time operational issues.
  • Contribute to the facility's development and help establish best practices.
  • Draft, review, and execute automation testing protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with various departments, including Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Facilities.
  • May require flexibility to work outside of standard hours to support critical operations.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of direct experience in automation engineering. A Master’s degree with three years of relevant experience is also acceptable. Familiarity with GAMP, cGMP, and regulatory standards is essential. Strong communication skills and effective problem-solving abilities are crucial for success in this role.

Preferred Experience

Experience in a biotech GMP manufacturing environment is highly desirable, along with knowledge of OSIsoft/AVEVA PI systems and various PLCs. Familiarity with SCADA systems and single-use manufacturing processes will be advantageous.

Working Conditions

This position is based in a regulated manufacturing environment and may require occasional travel to other facilities. The role involves prolonged periods of sitting and standing, as well as manual tasks.
