This role is based in a refinery/plant environment. Local candidates are preferred, but relocation candidates may be considered.
Overview:
The objective of this position is to ensure that all engineering and design tasks meet the required standards of quality, cost-effectiveness, and timeliness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute design and engineering deliverables as part of the Instrumentation & Control team.
- Interpret client specifications accurately.
- Facilitate coordination and communication with other disciplines and clients.
- Adhere to the client's Quality Assurance system in all work.
- Identify challenges and develop suitable solutions, seeking assistance when necessary.
- Support and mentor junior members of the instrumentation & controls engineering team as needed.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements and technical innovations in instrumentation & controls engineering.
- Act as the lead for instrumentation & controls engineering on specific projects when required.
- Provide assistance during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases as necessary.
- Ensure all engineering and design work complies with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Maintain safety standards in all design work.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards used by the client or industry standards.
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Proficient in Instrumentation & Control deliverables, including:
- Panel (JB and Marshalling) Design.
- P&ID's.
- Loop Drawings.
- Wiring Drawings.
- Motor Control Schematics.
- Instrument Location Drawings.
- Instrument Installation Details.
- Instrument Specifications (Datasheets).
- I/O Lists.
- Bill of Materials.
- Conduit/Tray/Cable Schedules.
- Control Narratives.
- Cause and Effect Diagrams.
- Material Requisitions.
- Construction or Engineering Work Packages.
- Experience with Instrumentation Calculation/Selection, including:
- Flow Measurement (Orifice Plates, Vortex, Venturi, Magnetic, Ultrasonic meters).
- Level Measurement (Radar, Displacers, Gauges).
- Temperature Measurement (including Thermowells Frequency wake calculation).
- Knowledge of Process Analyzers and sampling systems is advantageous.
- Competent in using instrument calculation/selection software.
- Familiarity with systems such as:
- PLCs (preferably Modicon, GE, or Rockwell).
- SISs (preferably Triconex).
- DCS (preferably Honeywell TDC/TPS/Experion, Foxboro I/A, ABBxA).
- Understanding of industry standards and codes related to Instrumentation & Control system deliverables.
- Able to manage multiple small to medium projects concurrently.
- Proficient in Computer-Aided Design software.
- Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) software.
- Knowledge of Communication Networks design/implementation is a plus.
- Proficient in relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- Over 10 years of direct experience in Instrumentation & Control design and engineering.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 2 or 3-year technical diploma.
- Training in SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) software, including wiring module.
