Job Summary

Timmons Group is seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief to lead our survey team in the field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in survey operations and be able to direct a team of surveyors to gather and complete assigned engineering and land surveys.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily activities of assigned survey instrument operators to ensure accurate and efficient data collection.
  • Train and mentor junior surveyors to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Establish and maintain survey equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct daily maintenance and upkeep of instruments.
  • Provide clear and concise field notes, including sketches.
  • Oversee maintenance of survey equipment, supplies, and vehicle.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and five (5) years of field survey experience.
  • Experience with Leica Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors, and GPS preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a federal security clearance.
  • Experience with VDOT transportation surveying a plus.
  • Ability to collect field data in an organized, neat, and professional manner for various boundary, topographic, design, and construction staking projects.
  • The ability to compute, process, and map field data will provide the right candidate opportunity and advancement.
  • AutoCAD experience a plus.
  • A valid VA driver's license and a good driving record required.
  • Must be willing to travel on occasion.
