Job Overview

Timmons Group is seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief to lead our survey team in Staunton, VA. As a key member of our Survey Group, you will be responsible for directing daily field operations to gather and complete engineering and land surveys.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of assigned survey instrument operators to ensure accurate and efficient data collection.
  • Train and mentor team members to operate total stations, levels, GPS, and data collectors.
  • Establish and set points on construction stakeout projects, including curb and gutter, drop inlets, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, waterline, and structures.
  • Conduct daily maintenance and upkeep of survey equipment.
  • Provide clear and concise field notes, including sketches.
  • Oversee maintenance of survey equipment, supplies, and vehicles.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED and five (5) years of field survey experience.
  • Experience with Leica Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors, and GPS preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a federal security clearance.
  • Experience with VDOT transportation surveying a plus.
  • AutoCAD experience a plus.
  • A valid VA driver license and a good driving record required.
