Echocardiography Specialist

Position Overview:
The role of the Echocardiography Specialist involves conducting both imaging and non-imaging assessments, including echocardiography procedures.
Key responsibilities include gathering patient medical history, clearly explaining procedures to patients, addressing any concerns, and adhering to established pre-screening protocols.
Determining the most suitable methodologies and techniques is essential; this includes arranging necessary support devices for optimal patient positioning and selecting the correct imaging equipment.
Prepare patients for echocardiography procedures, ensuring they are positioned correctly for the specific tests, and assist them upon completion of the procedures.
Utilize sound judgment to assess whether the imaging conducted is adequate for accurate diagnosis or if further imaging is warranted.
Deliver images, data analysis, and pertinent patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
Facility Preparation:
Ensure that facilities are prepared in accordance with procedural standards; calibrate equipment as required by institutional guidelines.
Monitor the patient's physical condition throughout the procedure; promptly report any changes in patient status or emergencies to clinical staff, supervisors, or cardiologists.
Recognize abnormal rhythms and immediately inform the Physician or relevant clinical personnel.
Documentation and Office Duties:
Maintain precise patient records, including computerized documentation.
Perform general office responsibilities such as managing supply inventory, assisting administrators in determining purchase quantities, recording procedure codes for billing, and scheduling patient appointments.
Ensure the proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies, while promoting continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental practices.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and document any errors or malfunctions, escalating concerns to supervisors as necessary.
Equipment Management:
Maintain adequate sonographic supplies and ensure all equipment is in optimal working condition.
Qualifications:
ARDMS or RCS License required.
Bivalent Booster recommended.
Additional Information:
This position requires an experienced Adult Cardiac Sonographer to work within a dynamic Cardiac Department, responsible for approximately 28 outpatient procedures weekly.
Types of Studies Conducted:
Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE), Stress Echocardiograms, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms, Echo Contrast, Echo Bubble, and Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE).
No IV initiation is required.
Equipment Utilized:
6 Philips Epiq Echo Machines and Syngo Dynamics PACS.
Reporting Systems:
Cupid & EPIC. RDCS Certification (or equivalent) is mandatory.
