Position Summary:


The Cardiac Rhythm Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing and interpreting patients' cardiac rhythms, ensuring accurate monitoring and timely intervention in response to any changes observed on ECG monitors.


Key Responsibilities:
• Interpret cardiovascular cardiac rhythms with precision.

• Monitor and identify patient cardiac rhythms as displayed on monitoring equipment.

• Take appropriate actions in response to any alterations in ECG patterns.

• Conduct permanent rhythm strip recordings when necessary.

• Communicate significant pattern changes to the supervising nurse promptly.

• Document rhythm strips with patient identification, rate, time, and interval readings.

• Demonstrate the ability to interpret complex arrhythmias, including sinus arrest, pacemaker activity, aberrancy, and blocked beats.

• Recognize subtle EKG findings, including concealed and reciprocal conduction, trifascicular block, and His bundle recordings.

• Analyze and articulate the pathophysiological implications of EKG rhythms.

• Execute clerical tasks as assigned.

• Fulfill additional responsibilities as required.


Participate in all mandatory safety training sessions and articulate responsibilities related to general and departmental safety concerning job-related hazards.

Adhere to hospital protocols regarding exposure control for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.


Exhibit respect and consideration for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and colleagues to foster a professional, responsible, and courteous atmosphere.

Encourage effective collaboration both within and across departments to enhance system-wide continuity of care.

Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

Completion of a 40-hour Basic Dysrhythmia course from an accredited institution.

Successful completion of the associated certification examination.

Experience:
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) months of on-the-job training to achieve proficiency in assigned duties.


Formal training in a certified or licensed program, requiring a minimum of 12 months or five years of experience in advanced monitoring.

Licenses/Certifications:

BLS Certification
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Proficient in Windows, Word, and other essential computer applications.
  • Detail-oriented with a thorough approach to complex tasks.
  • Effective communication skills with diverse contacts at all organizational levels and external entities.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding protected health information and provider data.
  • Commitment to the ethical standards of governing boards.
  • Compliance with OSHA regulations regarding N95 respirator training and fit testing.
