Key Responsibilities

The Hospice Volunteer Manager plays a crucial role in the organization by leading, managing, and coordinating volunteer efforts. Core responsibilities include:
  • Facilitating the recruitment, training, ongoing education, and assignment of hospice volunteers in compliance with regulatory and state guidelines.
  • Implementing necessary measures to ensure the program adheres to standards set by regulatory bodies and company principles regarding volunteer participation.
  • Providing timely reports to senior management on volunteer activities and participation levels to ensure compliance with regulatory volunteer hour requirements.
  • Collaborating with patients, caregivers, families, and the hospice team to coordinate volunteer assignments related to patient care.
  • Assigning volunteers to suitable activities based on their skills and interests.
  • Monitoring volunteer reports and addressing urgent matters with the appropriate supervisors.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of volunteer activities in the electronic medical record system, adhering to federal and state regulations.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An associate degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in working with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership abilities are preferred.
Essential Skills
  • Exceptional writing and presentation capabilities.
  • Current CPR certification, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation.
  • Strong communication skills with a positive demeanor.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and assess volunteer services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning various applications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, adaptable in a dynamic environment.
  • Capacity to exercise sound judgment and take initiative.
