Key Responsibilities
The Hospice Volunteer Manager plays a crucial role in the organization by leading, managing, and coordinating volunteer efforts. Core responsibilities include:
- Facilitating the recruitment, training, ongoing education, and assignment of hospice volunteers in compliance with regulatory and state guidelines.
- Implementing necessary measures to ensure the program adheres to standards set by regulatory bodies and company principles regarding volunteer participation.
- Providing timely reports to senior management on volunteer activities and participation levels to ensure compliance with regulatory volunteer hour requirements.
- Collaborating with patients, caregivers, families, and the hospice team to coordinate volunteer assignments related to patient care.
- Assigning volunteers to suitable activities based on their skills and interests.
- Monitoring volunteer reports and addressing urgent matters with the appropriate supervisors.
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of volunteer activities in the electronic medical record system, adhering to federal and state regulations.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An associate degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
- Proficiency in working with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated management and leadership abilities are preferred.
- Exceptional writing and presentation capabilities.
- Current CPR certification, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation.
- Strong communication skills with a positive demeanor.
- Ability to effectively coordinate and assess volunteer services.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning various applications.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, adaptable in a dynamic environment.
- Capacity to exercise sound judgment and take initiative.
