Phlebotomy Technician IV Job Description

At Novant Health, we are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Technician IV to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing all collection procedures, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, and advising and assisting in the orientation and training of other personnel on equipment and software as necessary.

The successful candidate will be part of a market-based, float pool team that is assigned to varying facilities during their shift to ensure that patient care needs are met within the assigned facility. This role requires three years of phlebotomy experience and certification by ASCP, ASPT, AMT, or NHA. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be able to work independently, and have the ability to follow written protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all collection procedures in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Advise and assist in the orientation and training of other personnel on equipment and software as necessary.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff, and the public.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED, Required.
  • Three years of relevant phlebotomy experience, Preferred.
  • Certification by ASCP, ASPT, AMT, or NHA, Required.
  • Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and follow written protocols.
