Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care aimed at ensuring the comfort and health of patients. The RN prepares necessary equipment and assists physicians during examinations and treatments. Responsibilities include administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds, and monitoring vital signs of patients. The RN also observes and maintains accurate records regarding patient care, conditions, reactions, and progress.


The RN plays a crucial role as a primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and execution of patient care.

The RN directs and supports the implementation of safe aseptic techniques and procedures. Additionally, the RN provides leadership and guidance to all support staff within the department.

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline is a premier acute care medical facility in the region, offering a comprehensive range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services, particularly in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care.

As the leading emergency facility in the area and the only Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, it is staffed with specially trained physicians and nurses in emergency services.

The Pavilion and Critical Care Center feature a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and surgical suites. This facility is also a teaching institution affiliated with a recognized health science center.

The Shoreline campus is home to several vital and renowned programs, including a Primary Stroke Center, a nationally accredited Cancer Center, and a recognized Chest Pain Center.

The Pavilion houses the CHRISTUS Spohn Heart Network, recently acknowledged as one of the top 100 cardiovascular hospitals in the United States, offering advanced diagnostic, surgical, and rehabilitative cardiac services in one location.



Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Preferred: One year of nursing experience
- Current Texas State RN License or Compact RN License
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- ACLS certification required at the time of hire for experienced RNs; new graduates must obtain ACLS by the end of the clinical orientation period.
- NIHSS certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer date
- De-escalation training required within 90 days of hire/transfer date
- TNCC certification required within 6 weeks of hire for experienced RNs; new graduates must obtain TNCC within 18 months of hire/transfer date.
- PALS certification required at the time of hire for experienced RNs; new graduates must obtain PALS by the end of the clinical orientation period.
