Job Summary:

The Technology Specialist II will provide technical support and services to enhance educational programs and administrative functions within the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29, Schuylkill Technology Center, and member school districts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Level 1, 2, and 3 technical support for computers, equipment, networks, and other technology services.
  • Assist district, IU, and STC staff with procedural, hardware, and software issues, and skills development services.
  • Support and assist district, IU, and STC staff with government reporting, data analysis, data structures, and related skills development.
  • Provide onsite technical support for districts as needed.
  • Test, install, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, audio/video, server, network, and peripheral equipment and cabling problems/issues.
  • Maintain user accounts, add/change/delete logins, install software, and preview and evaluate hardware and software.
  • Inform teachers, administrators, and support staff of appropriate emerging technology.
  • Effectively use new and existing equipment and software.
  • Recommend and implement security, hardware, and software enhancements.
  • Maintain a professional, clean, orderly, and safe working environment.
  • Assist the technology staff with any issues related to current and future technology initiatives.
  • Assist in organizing and executing technology events, in-service programs, and workshops.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of IU and STC websites.
  • Support, install, configure, and maintain server-based services and equipment.
  • Monitor server and network status, security, and utilization, and initiate appropriate measures.
  • Monitor system backup and archival functions to assure compliance with applicable policies, practices, and standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Technology and/or Technical Certificate/Industry Certification. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Moderate knowledge in computers, hardware, software, and networks.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

This is an active position requiring the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs.

Work is done mainly indoors but could include outside tasks.
