RN Hematology/Medical and GYN Oncology Specialist

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Hematology/Medical and GYN Oncology team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and working closely with physicians to provide therapeutic injections and nursing services.
**Responsibilities:**
• Provide direct patient care under established protocols and under the supervision of a physician.
• Assist physician(s) during procedures.
• Monitor patients per protocol.
• Initiate appropriate nursing care and assist with medical care.
• Obtain venous access via peripheral vein, tunneled catheter, and/or implanted port.
• Provide patient and family teaching related to hematology and/or medical/GYN Oncology procedures, surgeries, chemotherapy treatment, lab and diagnostic procedures and symptom management.
• Maintain accurate written records of patient interactions, including telephone messages.
• Schedule lab/diagnostic procedures as needed.
• Share relevant information concerning the patient's condition with physician, manager, and other medical staff, as appropriate and indicated to ensure continuity of care.
• Coordinate care with the individual patient, family, and other healthcare providers as necessary.
• Communicate with physicians and assist with follow-up on abnormal laboratory and diagnostic test results.
• Interact with pharmacists to order prescriptions.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and environmental safety.
• Assume preceptor role for new Associates and/or Student.
• Maintain professional standards by participating in in-services, staff meetings, and educational opportunities, including committee involvement.
• Participate in quality control and practice policies development.
• Work closely with the Department Manager to assess office needs and workflow improvement projects.
• Assist with special projects as required by practice.
**Requirements:**
• Michigan State License for Registered Nurse.
• Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card required within 90 days of hire.
• BLS within 60 days of hire.
• Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) within 3 years of hire.
• Prior to obtaining certification, must maintain 12 oncology-specific CEUs per year.
**Work Experience:**
• Minimum of 2 years Outpatient Physician Clinic experience.
**Education:**
• Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
**Specialized Knowledge and Skills:**
• Demonstrates positive team attitude and has interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients, their families, physicians, and other co-workers.
• Develops plan of care that includes age-specific needs, physical and safety needs, as well as psychological and educational needs.
• Possesses leadership skills needed to take charge of a situation when necessary and takes initiative and independence to follow through.
• Requires visual and auditory acuity necessary to monitor a patient's condition and operate office equipment.
• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans related to the field of Hematology/Oncology preferred.
