Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our Finance team at Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the accounting for fixed assets, prepaid expenses, leases, and other areas as deemed necessary.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for various areas, including pension, loan sales, dealer reserves, expense accruals, and other assigned areas.
  • Perform and review account reconciliations for assigned accounts, including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and other areas.
  • Assist with verifying and coding invoices and expense vouchers for proper input.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Operations Manager to create and enhance internal procedures.
  • Provide support and guidance to coworkers and customers as needed.
  • Assist with the Accounting Representative's duties as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience required.
  • 6 years of accounting or related experience (degree included) required; banking experience a plus.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and provide clear and accurate conclusions to explain variances.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal; comfortable working in a team environment and collaborating with others to achieve goals.
  • Detail-oriented, extremely organized, ability to prioritize and manage time to achieve objectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel knowledge, Word, and mainframe general ledger applications.
