The Respiratory Care Practitioner II plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient-centered respiratory care at Methodist Hospital. This position requires a skilled professional to coordinate and perform diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, monitor patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, and provide oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure, and document findings.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy, as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify healthcare providers of any unintended responses.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
- RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification.
- State Registered Respiratory Therapist, or State Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician, or Vocational School Graduate, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Certificate, or Masters Degree.
