Position Summary: We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our dynamic team in a collaborative environment. This role involves facilitating the design and engineering of structural systems for buildings and facilities, guiding projects from the pre-schematic phase through to construction completion with minimal oversight from senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make informed design decisions based on client specifications and project demands, including load requirements, applicable codes, architectural limitations, and operational constraints.
- Utilize advanced theoretical knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles.
- Supervise junior engineers, designers, and drafters in producing structural construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and construction administration.
- Mentor junior staff, fostering their technical skills and career growth.
- Conduct structural calculations using appropriate system concepts and layouts.
- Review Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and other construction-related documentation.
- Manage multiple moderate-sized projects or segments of larger projects with limited supervision.
- Contribute to client proposals by preparing project scopes, budgets, and timelines.
- Maintain strong client relationships throughout project development and execution.
- Engage in client and design team meetings, as well as plan review and approval processes.
- Support business development initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Structural Engineering with relevant experience.
- California Professional Civil or Structural Engineering license.
- Experience in seismic design, evaluation, and retrofitting of buildings in high seismic zones.
- Ability to perform complex structural calculations independently.
- Proven design capabilities with steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.
- Familiarity with California Building Codes and ASCE 41 Standards.
- Knowledge of modeling software such as ETABS, RISA, RAM, Revit, MathCAD, SAP2000, AutoCAD, and Tekla.
Preferred Qualifications:
- California Structural Engineer license.
- Active involvement in professional activities related to structural or earthquake engineering.
- Proficiency in software such as Python, Rhino, or Grasshopper.
- Experience in project teams delivering complex healthcare-related projects.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring junior staff.
