Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer will design building electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarm, and special systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on projects in various market sectors, such as healthcare, academic, industrial, and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop electrical systems design based on scope of work and/or client requirements.
  2. Provide engineering planning, design, and construction administration for all electrical systems, including power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
  3. Conduct existing building surveys and documentations of existing electrical and fire alarm systems.
  4. Write/edit project specifications.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years of design experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with projects in healthcare, science and technology, education, and commercial buildings.
  • Knowledge of electrical calculations, including lighting photometric calcs, voltage drop, and overcurrent protection coordination, and short circuit calculations.

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office is required. Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines is also essential. Excellent work ethic, good communication and time management skills, and interpersonal communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work are necessary. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team is also required.

Desired Skills

LEED certification/experience is a plus, and educational project design experience is preferred. Location: Bethesda, MD.
