POSITION OVERVIEW
This role is integral to our Project Management Team, supporting various jobsite locations across the region. The Onsite Engineering Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance, quality assurance, construction oversight, land surveying, and ensuring a safe work environment. Experience in heavy civil or marine construction is highly desirable. Frequent travel is expected.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESinclude, but are not limited to:

  • Creation of project work element plans and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
  • Collaboration with Manson superintendents, foremen, craft personnel, and subcontractors to define project features
  • Utilization of Computer-Aided Drafting for analyzing lift equipment capabilities and work method sequencing
  • Development of critical path schedules and three-week look-ahead schedules
  • Evaluation of designs, drawings, and engineering data from Manson consultants and vendors for compliance with project specifications, identifying potential conflicts
  • Research and procurement of necessary permanent and consumable materials, equipment, and tools
  • Inspection of newly received permanent materials to ensure they meet project standards
  • Coordination of project activities with client representatives and other stakeholders
  • Design of falsework
  • Monitoring of Manson and subcontractor operations
  • Preparation of daily operations and quality control reports
  • Documentation of project progress through photographic records
  • General support for project needs
  • Adherence to Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct
  • Commitment to maintaining safe work practices and fostering an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment

SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position may involve direct supervision of engineering interns.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering (Civil, Coastal, Ocean, or Mechanical) or Construction Management from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, is required. Experience in the Marine Construction Industry is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
A valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is required. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) and current registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) is preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential; experience with scheduling, estimating, and project management software such as HCSS and Primavera is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is primarily field-based and requires travel, including site visits and monitoring of construction activities. Employees must be able to wear the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) required for various construction environments (hard hats, personal flotation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc.). The role involves standing, walking, using stairs, ladders, and step stools, and reaching with hands and arms. Employees must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to navigate stairs, ladders, and gangways, and to board, work on, and disembark from floating vessels and structures is required. The noise level may range from moderate to loud, and employees may be required to sit for extended periods.
