Responsibilities
  • Ensure the efficient coordination of pathology services, maintaining accurate records and facilitating communication between healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Enter patient demographics into computer systems, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
  • Generate and organize pathology reports for delivery to clients, adhering to strict protocols and deadlines.
  • Document and fax melanoma cases to appropriate locations, following proper procedure and ensuring confidentiality.
  • File slides and tissue blocks in designated locations, maintaining a neat and organized workspace.
  • Enter billing codes and prepare log sheets for billing, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Document and mail slide/block requests for consultation, following established protocols.
  • Sort reports and distribute to clients, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Display proficiency in retrieving prior/archived pathology reports, as needed.
  • Email the Marketing team the log on a monthly basis, providing essential data for analysis.
  • Add new locations and physicians to IP systems, ensuring seamless integration and data accuracy.
  • Send out monthly self-pay/discount audit MCBS, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance.
  • Send out monthly missing accession numbers re-released to MCBS, ensuring timely and accurate data entry.
  • Test interfaces with clients, ensuring seamless communication and data exchange.
  • Fill out supply orders, maintaining a well-stocked and organized workspace.
  • Back up to the front desk as needed, providing support and assistance to colleagues.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA standards, ensuring confidentiality and data security.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA Standard Precautions, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with Chemical Hygiene Practices, ensuring proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Ability to type accurately and efficiently, with a strong background in medical terminology.
Licensure/Certifications/Education
  • AA degree in biology, histotechnology, or other closely related field, preferred.
  • Must have a strong background/understanding of medical terminology.
  • Two or more years of typing at least 40 WPM, required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
