ROLE SUMMARY: This position entails overseeing the direct and indirect educational and care needs of children. The educator will establish and uphold an environment that promotes safety, learning, and development. The individual will lead all classroom activities effectively.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of each child's educational objectives and communicate these effectively to assistants and parents.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of curriculum to meet developmental goals and readiness for kindergarten.
  • Foster a classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation and learning.
  • Design and implement learning activities tailored to the diverse needs and abilities of children.
  • Collaborate with therapists to ensure optimal outcomes for children within the classroom.
  • Develop and share lesson plans that align with approved curriculum, ensuring clarity for substitutes.
  • Prepare educational materials in advance and deliver skill lessons in both group and individual settings.
  • Supervise and engage with children throughout the day, ensuring a supportive learning environment.
  • Manage and organize classroom schedules effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Standards of Care for Early Childhood programs.
  • Maintain an environment that meets ITERS/ECERS standards, aiming for high ratings in classrooms.
  • Assist in the implementation of care plans, documenting progress accurately.
  • Work in partnership with parents and staff to cultivate a positive atmosphere.
  • Monitor child records to ensure authorized pickups only.
  • Report any discrepancies in staff/child ratios immediately.
  • Complete required documentation and progress notes punctually.
  • Collect developmental data on assigned children as necessary.
  • Maintain certifications in Infant/Toddler CPR, First Aid, and Infection Control.
  • Ensure accurate and timely timesheet submissions.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Engage in a minimum of 15 hours of professional development annually, with additional requirements for specific classrooms.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including participation in parent functions.
  • Report any signs of abuse or neglect promptly.
  • Adhere to the established chain of command for reporting issues.
  • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the manual.
  • Comply with all relevant regulations and standards.
